about the play
In this play the main focus lies on themes like estrangement and isolation, which can be experienced by a person within the family or society even if this family or society is called happy.
In “Metamorphosis” by Franz Kafka we learn that Gregor Samsa’s isolation was his personal choice. Why did he transform into a disgusting insect, an object of disgust for his fellow-men? It is the only possibility to stay with his role and continue the individuality of his existence.
commentaries of the press
“… a breath-taking non-verbal Kafka-project… scaring, weighty and impressing.”
Kleine Zeitung
“Hats off to the ensemble of Theater ASOU who expressively copes with the extremely exhausting scenes seemingly without any difficulties.”
Kronenzeitung
“I have to admit, that Theater ASOU reached in comparison to other non-japanese Butoh dancers a high level on Butoh.”
